FamilySearch - Massive ongoing LDS database of ancestry; International Genealogical Index; Ancestral File; general genealogical information; many online publications on genealogical research and tips.
Federal Land Patents - Searchable database of federal land patents and information on how to obtain certified copies of land patents.
Find A Grave - User-submitted photos of more than 100 million grave records. Free to search.
GenTree - Over 500 family and surname database links.
Geographic Names Information System - Input a city, town or feature (cemetery, school, river, creek, mine, etc.) and this system will display the county name, elevation, latitude and longitude, and variant names. Good source for finding the name of the county in which a town is located.
Illinois Civil War Veterans - 250,000 Illinois men who served in the Civil War. Type in a surname and receive the full name, regiment and company, and city/town of residence.
Illinois Death Certificates, 1916-1950 - Searchable database of death certificates filed with the Illinois Department of Public Health; historical background, How to obtain death certificates; tips on using the database.
Illinois Digital Archives - Created by the Illinois State Library, these digital documents cover everything from the planned community of Park Forest to the evolution of O'Hare Airport. Search the entire collection or leisurely browse.
Illinois Public Domain Land Tract Sales - Searchable database of land sales recorded by field employees of the U.S. General Land Office, state and local officials, and clerks of the Illinois Central Railroad; how to obtain copies of land records, how to determine the location of public doman lands.
Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 1763-1900 - Searchable index to Illinois marriages occurring prior to 1901; how to obtain copies of marriage records; tips on searching the database.
Indiana Cemetery Locator - Locates cemeteries in Indiana; gives cemetery name, county, and call numbers of items in the State Library pertaining to that cemetery.
Indiana Deaths, Pre-1882 - Compiled by Dawne Slater-Putt (Allen County Public Library), a source (though not entirely comprehensive) of deaths occurring in Indiana before 1882, the date that death recording was required.
Indiana Digital Archives - Millions of digitally indexed records of collections housed within both the Indiana State Archives and other governmental units. IRAD (Illinois Regional Archives Depository) - Search local governmental records including those from county, city, town, village, and township levels throughout Illinois. Numerous offices are represented from these levels. The record holdings of the IRAD system include over 5,400 different record series
Kentucky Vital Records Index - Death Index 1911-1986; Death Index 1987-1992; Marriage Index 1973-1993; Divorce Index 1973-1993.
Maine Marriages, 1892-1996 - Searchable by marriage year, name of groom, name of bride, or the home town of either.
McLean County (IL) Immigration/Naturalization Records - Abstracts, searchable by surname.
Michigan Death Records - Records from 1875 to 1880 with portions of 1881 and 1882 -- searchable by last or first name, father's last name, county of death or date of death.

Social Security Death Index - Searchable database of deaths reported to the Social Security Administration. People listed in this index either had Social Security numbers or were employed by the Railroad and received Social Security benefits.
